When Patience and Self-control are Absent... Anger, Rage and Revenge
One of the characteristics of patience is that it is slow to anger. ("Patience" is one dimension of "love," as seen in 1 Corinthians. 13:4-7.) The lack of patience is frequently expressed by anger.
Rage is the more emotional and violent - but often short-lived - counterpart to anger. (Anger is slower and more deliberate.) Rage can occur when self-control is absent.
Revenge is something which frequently occurs when anger is allowed to continue unabated.
Patience can counteract anger; self-control can counteract rage. When we are willing to deal with these two issues, then we won't have to worry about revenge.
