Scripture Pages that Link to Here
Genesis 13:1-18
:Lot made a values judgment. His options were: 1) good land with wicked inhabitants, or 2) not-so-good land without the wicked inhabitants. Eventually he lived in Sodom.

Genesis 14:1-24
:(Abraham attacks several kings/armies, to rescue Lot & those with him. He rescued them for the sake of his nephew Lot, not for personal gain. He also didn't want the wicked to take credit for his wealth. It was God who promised to bless him, and God would get the credit for any blessings he received.

Exodus 1:15-21
:Exo 1:17 But the midwives feared God, and didn't do what the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the baby boys alive. - They feared God more than they feared the king. God blessed them.

Psalm 139:1-24
:There is a legitimate (and godly) form of hate. It's the same type of hate we are to have even for ourselves, when we are deciding whether or not to follow Jesus (Luke 14:26). It's a reflection of values: Any time we must choose between God and people (when we can't choose both), we must choose God.

Proverbs 19:2
:Pro 19:2 It isn't good to have zeal without knowledge; nor being hasty with one's feet and missing the way.

:We must value both as equally important!

Ecclesiastes 2:1-26
:Ecc 2:24, 26 - There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it is from the hand of God. ... For to the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.

:(Also, in previous verses, we read that a pleasure-oriented lifestyle is utterly foolish.)

Add other passages in Ecclesiastes!

Ecclesiastes 7:10
:"Why were the former days better than these?" - There are two ways a person can ask such a question. Though we may be able to learn from the past, don't long to live there! (The second of these two ways is the focus in this verse.)

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
:We should value the "fear of God" (and the resulting obedience) more than anything else; for it is the only thing that has eternal significance.

Isaiah 5:1-30
:An example of distorted values - turned upside-down.

:Isa 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
