There is a "sin nature" in the human race, which is ''passed on'' from one generation to the next. Because of this, each of us has ''inclinations'' to sin. Some inclinations may be stronger, and the nature of the inclinations will vary from person to person.

However, an ''inclination'' to sin is not the same as the ''choice'' to sin. Though inclined, we have to ''choose'' to say "yes" to that inclination - and we will be held accountable for our choices.

Every time a person chooses to sin, he ''reinforces'' that inclination, so that he tends to sin ''more'' - until it becomes an enslaving habit. He also becomes increasingly deadened in his conscience, so he begins to view it as less serious than it really is. (In the end, his conscience can become totally calloused or "seared."
