How to Dishonor God

"The Easy Way"

We can dishonor God by committing sin - by doing bad things. However, we can dishonor him just as easily by doing good things, and ignoring him while doing so. We dishonor God every time we fail to include him in the day-to-day activities of our lives. It's a real easy method for doing so, because, to succeed, we don't even have to do anything!

This second method seems to be the most popular one used, among many who claim to be "Bible believing Christians." Though this wouldn't include everyone who makes that claim, many think that, if they aren't actively doing something "bad," it's OK for them to do as they please, with little or no thought for God. Many who ignore God in "everyday life" have the same self-righteous attitude as the religious fakes of the New Testament, who thought they were better than the unsaved "horrible sinners" in the world around them (people who did "bad" things), while at the same time ignoring their own lack of obedience to God. They seem to think that, just because they call themselves "Bible believers," God looks down on them with a smile.

Jesus warned that such people will experience a judgment that is much more severe than the judgment that those "horrible sinners" will receive. This is because people who have received a much greater illumination of the truth will be held accountable for much more obedience to the truth. Because of this, their act of ignoring it is a much more damnable offense (literally), in God's sight. They forget that their actions (or lack of actions) means a lot more than their empty claims about being saved.
