- Pro 27:25-27 The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, the grasses of the hills are gathered in. The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of a field. There will be plenty of goats' milk for your food, for your family's food, and for the nourishment of your servant girls.
- The value of work, since riches (already-accumulated wealth) won't last forever!
- Ecc 2:24, 26 - There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it is from the hand of God. ... For to the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.
- This shows that "work for its own sake" is not good... but enjoying the "fruit" of our labor, as received from the hand of God, is!
- Several issues related to work and our attitude toward it.
- Contentment is better than envy, and is compatible with the joy and satisfaction described in previous chapters.
- Cooperation, working together, sharing - These are better than greed. (3 examples given)
