This page focuses on the consequences of sin that extends across generations. It has been called "Sins of the Parents" for lack of a better name.

Exodus 20:1-21 and Deuteronomy 5:1-33
- For those who reject God and choose to worship created objects (and teach their children to do the same): Exo 20:5 & Deu 5:9 - ... I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me, ... (contrasted to his love & mercy to thousands of generations).
- (common theme) - ... the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
- In the long run, the wicked will not have offspring who will live in the land. There is no future for the wicked and his wicked offspring. We must remember that, in these matters, children tend to follow their parents' example.
- Psa 106:6 "We have sinned with our fathers. We have committed iniquity. We have done wickedly." This illustrates the tendency people have to follow the sinful examples of their forefathers.
- The word "tendency" implies the fact that, by God's grace, they can change! It's just that most never reach the point that they want to. Even when they speak against the sins of their parent, they may still follow their example, but in different ways. The religious leaders in Jesus' day did this - Matthew 23:29-32.
