Fifth Commandment

You must honor parental authority.
- We must honor all legitimate authority, beginning at home.
- By implication, authority must not mistreat those under authority.
- As with the other commands, this command represents an entire "category" of attitudes and actions.
The "exception" to the command: When a human authority gives a command that goes against God's authority, the human authority is to be disobeyed, and God obeyed. This is called Civil Disobedience.
