(Note: The prophets told the people to direct their focus to the God who was bringing the judgment, rather than to the false gods who were the reason for it!)
Parent topic: Judgment.

Perhaps add: God's comments to Abraham about the Amorites (400 more years before their judgment) and Angel's warnings at Sodom (a few hours warning). Also, the sight of the devastation (at Sodom & the nearby cities) served as a warning to those living nearby.
- Gen 6:3 Yahweh said, "My Spirit will not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; yet will his days be one hundred twenty years." Warning of judgment - 120 years of opportunity to repent.
- The 120 years of "grace" (Genesis 6:3) were now over - and it seems that nobody had repented of their sins! Now it's time for judgment.
- A warning to Pharaoh: God's purpose in all these judgments on Egypt – to display his power. Otherwise he would have already killed them off for their refusal to let his people go! Keeping them alive so long is an expression of grace (undeserved kindness)!
NOTE: Once the Israelites left Egypt, the Canaanites knew that judgment was coming. Indirectly (because of Israel's disobedience), God gave the Canaanites an extra 40 years to repent... but they did not.
- Isaiah was to warn the people. They would have the opportunity to repent, even though they wouldn't listen and wouldn't repent.
