EARTHQUAKES
1. Verses that simply mention the existence of an earthquake
- a. Some of these may fit in other categories
- b. Example: When Uzziah was king
- c. Example: When Paul & Silas were in prison
2. The presence of God (such as at Mt. Sinai)
- a. Emphasis: his holiness, greatness, majesty, etc.
3. The anger of God
- a. This concept is often related to judgment
- b. Perhaps some passages may be like warnings
4. The judgment of God
- a. [The Great Flood (related, but different words)]
- b. Against individuals (such as Korah)
- c. Against nations
- d. When fighting for Israel (vs. evil nations)
5. Related to Jesus' death & resurrection
- a. At Jesus' death
- b. At his resurrection
6. Related to Jesus' return / end of world
- a. Increased in frequency and severity
- b. When Jesus returns, the Mount of Olives will be split in two
- c. The destruction of "all that can be shaken"
7. God's people do not have to fear God's judgment
