1 Kings 8:35-40 & 2 Chronicles 6:26-31
- Comes after the prayer of repentance.
 
- The need for forgiveness of sins we don't realize we commit - Psa 19:12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive me from hidden errors.
 
- In spite of their constant rebellion God ... "being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn't destroy them." (Psa 78:38)
 
- This wasn't necessarily a "saving" forgiveness (for eternal life), but a forgiveness that spared them from the instant physical death, which they deserved.
 
- Forgiveness on an individual level, will affect one's eternal destiny. But it will not necessarily remove the consequences that must be endured in this present life - especially those consequences that are the result of a nation's sins.
 
- This Isaiah passage should be a warning to us. Both Old and New Testaments affirm that certain types of sin cannot be forgiven.
